hey guys did a little assessment today with my 2 year old staffy bitch.
she was fantastic loads of drive good around kids and even had a cat run out at her as she was on the search and carried on searching.
we did about 5 run aways starting with a visual chase
to a quick hide and release and then a couple of longer soak periods in hiding before releasing
does any one know of any staffys doing SAR before.

We did have a staffy training with us in the past which showed all the right attributes however I'm not aware of an operational staffy yet.....

At one time there were about 3 staffs in training with Berkshire SAR Dogs but they all dropped out,
I seem to recall that Wales had one in training it did a L2 when the assessments were in Newbury but was just not ready, It was Daryl and Deb who assessed it it was a black one and i was a misper. But apart from that i don`t think any other team has any, tell you what it`s great when have a pass with the first dog of your chosen breed

Just thought id let you guys no how my Lady (Lumps) is getting on with training.
we've done about 4 days training search and shes already on advanced searches moved her on so quickly because she loving every minute of it and seems to be following the fresh scent on the ground left by the MISPER moving in to location.
So Ive started putting the MISPER in location 5 minutes before leaving the house and making sure i enter the set area from a different direction.
shes working fantastically.

I was wondering if any one is doing any next week that i could come along to with lady so we could get some tips.im very willing to aid in any training youve got going on being a misper setting a track ill happily help for a few tips and a bit more direction.

feel free to PM me or repost if you could help id be very grateful

Hi all

Wales has a qualified staff cross spaniel. This is the dog mandy was referring to above. Im sure Helen would be more than happy to help if you had any questions re training. Her contact details are on the Wales website.

Brillant news to have a Staffy in Search and Rescue. I had my American Staffs with the Red Cross in Germany. They loved the physical work and loved people. I hope you get her trained to become operational. I would like one in our unit in Essex. Good luck
