Come on people - don't be shy! It is actually possible to guess this one - the breed is a very popular one, great family dog and very intelligent. The name is quite appropriate given the "American Way" (could be male or female).

So, go for it! [biggrin]

Well if its intelligent it must be a Collie - but then your posting the question so it must be a lab;

Sam the lab?

Well given the "American Way" it must be called Fatty!! Which would also follow with it being a lab! however you have already said it isnt a lab.

So humm...

Intelligent, good family dog, popular. Humm!!!!

I would go for Golden Retriever (they are definatly popular and always sold as good family pets although actually statistacally they are the breed of dog that causes the most amount of hospitalisations of humans- Goldie rage is a nasty thing.)

So i am going for a Golden Retriever called Fatty!

Well done Lou - you are 50% of the way there! Golden Retriever is the correct breed (and most appropriate as we were there last night toasting you! In a pub called the Golden Retriever for those who have no idea what I'm talking about!).

I may have misled people slightly with my "American Way" clue so let's give you another clue - whilst the name is "non-gender specific" there is a very famous "Lady" with this name that is iconic to the US.

Come on now, I'm practically giving this away!!!! [tongue2]

Oh Lou, you've let yourself down after such a well worked out answer for the breed!! Princess Di hadn't yet become "Princess" when Gerald Ford was President (1974-1977)!!! [rolleyes]
