Generally Battenburg is found on the sides of emergency vehicles with Chevrons on the rear.

I'm glad you have read it the same as I did, so unless anyone comes up with anything else (Mr Bradley is normally good at this sort of thing) I will go ahead and get a quote for some team member car stickers similar to the ones that MR use.

I noticed my name mentioned so thought I'd better have a proper look at everything said - I have to say that Road Regs don't really do it for me.

I would have to agree with everyone's interpretation that non-reflective stickers are highly unlikely to be deemed illegal - but like all laws it is only after the Courts have got around to interpreting it that anyone can be definate! Considering some of the over-the-top markings that are seen on all sorts of private and commercial (and some volunteers!) vehicles these days , I don't think anyone could or would object to a discrete yet informative sticker wherever it was placed on a car.

Now I can get back to concentrating on supporting Brock in the Crufts Friends for Life competition!

I agree, discreet, but informative is not going to annoy any intelligent (have I spelt that right)? agency!

Mr Bradley,

Am I finally going to meet you in person at Crufts, I do hope so, as My good friend Mark Buckle, has told me so much about you! [biggrin]

Daryl the only regulations are to with using reflective markings on vehicles, as for using battenburg in any colour in the UK there isn't any copyright or legislation (unlike in the Netherlands whose Emergency Services (Police, Fire and Ambulance) livery is protected from being used) that says it can't be used by anyone .

You will notice that Security Companies and Breakdown Recovery companies use it, As for the signs as long as they conform with Construction & Use Regs then you can use any design within reason.

Just scrolled through 3 pages :)

To summarise: any vehicle, any colour combination of battenburg are legal as long as they are not retro reflective unless its yellow and orange.

Each Ambulance/Fire/Police service has to apply for the exemption to use illegal retro reflective colours to Department for Transport for any colour apart from yellow/orange.

Good evening all,

Just been reading the above, and I am almost 100% sure that you can have reflective livery, stripes and or battenburg on the sides of any vehicle, but must be non reflective to the front and the back.

(from my days of traffic law training)

Thanks
