My name is Briar, and I have a trailing dog, a wonderful yellow lab named Bardy. We are members of CARDA, the California Rescue Dog Association...and I am an apprentice with them...just starting to work on the long road to mission ready status.

I am looking forward to chatting with folks in here..exchanging ideas, information...and just getting more in K9SAR.

Can you tell us a bit more about CARDA? Who you are called out by, types of calls you get etc. We like to know about other teams all over the world.

we are called out by the state, never self deployed, and we train as teams...coming together 4-10 times a month at different locations throughout California to learn trailing and area dog skills, first responder, radio, knots, transport, recognizing dog behavior etc...and, this coming week...I will be taking my dog to a rattlesnake aversion training..since we are encountering a lot those in California these days.
