Scotland's four-legged heroes have helped saved countless lives and this weekend two more search and rescue dogs joined their ranks at a training scheme on Glencoe.

For four decades the injured, the lost and the frightened have been plucked from the country's toughest mountain ranges thanks to the bravery of Scotland's search and rescue dog teams.

Often, the four-legged heroes have to overcome their own fears to help their handlers reach those most in need of help.

Helicopters are essential to reach casualties quickly in Scotland's remotest ranges but not all the dogs are that keen on taking to the skies.

The weekend training course on Glencoe was a good opportunity for the Search And Rescue Dogs Association members to recall some of the dramatic rescues they and their dogs have been involved in.

SARDA are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be sent anywhere in the country but for them the rewards more than make up for the sacrifices.

After three intensive days of training on Glencoe's snow-capped peaks all the dogs passed with flying colours.
