Any suggestions as to best makes and plces to buy and get them fitted?

Dunlop Wintersport 4Ds seem highly rated.

Down your way I always used to hear micheldeever gyres were very good my old boss used to travel from Sussex to get the ones fir his Alpina, we do have our resident tyre expertmark Lambden esq.
According to the autoexpress winter tyre test this week it's the continental CONTIWINTERCONTACT TS 830P, apparently £170 a corner the Dunlop you mentioned wasn't rated as they could only test the pre-production model. 2nd waster GOODYEAR ULTRAGRIP PERFORMANCE 2 a snip at £189. If you can't find it online I'll bring in on tuesday

Cheers Jon, the Dunlop actually beat the Goodyear in the German version of auto express. I've found it online at Tyreshopper for £98 (not fitted obviously). As I need 4 that seems a big saving?

Dunlops £128 fitted at Value Tyre here in Guildford. Am I likley to do any better? Current summer Dunlops are 205/60R/16 92H (got them in France this summer after a little local difficulty)

Another question; do they have to be fitted to steels or can I use my current alloys?

May as well wade in now
Dunlop are owned by Goodyear so should not be much difference
Personally I use Goodyear and have never had a problem
In the last batch snow I drove up to Iain & Mel's place in High Wycombe, the only other vehicle to get there was a Landover with chains on!!
Steels or alloys if can get hold of a set of steels go it it, you can still slide around with M+S tyres on and if you use a kerb to stop better off f$%king a steel to an alloy.
Price depends on the size 1st, then maybe ask to me in person!? [wink]

I'm coming in a bit late but I figure I'll put it here anyway...

I find Bracknell Tyre and Battery to be the best place in Berkshire to get tyres. They're always insanely busy but they can pretty much get anything and they're even cheaper than Micheldever.
