- Members of Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While we understand that school, work and family commitments are priorities, are you willing to make every effort to respond to incident callouts?

  You will be in a probationary status until appropriately qualified. During this time, you are expected to show commitment to group training days and meetings, as well as your own personal/private training outside of the group sessions. At the end of this period, you will be evaluated on attendance, training, professionalism, the ability to carry out assignments and the ability to work with and get along with other members of the Team. Completion of this probation period and successful evaluation and interview, will result in the offer of full membership.

As a member of Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs, you will be expected to work closely with and under the direction of members of various police forces. You may be assigned to carry out tasks such as: field work in rough terrain and poor weather conditions, communications, medical aid, or others as needed. Safety is a top priority, and you may be reassigned if you feel you are not ready for an assignment or are unable to perform it.

Background Investigation
- All prospective members will have a confidential background investigation which includes a criminal history check performed by the Police. It is important to the Police authority and the Team that all members are of sound character and demonstrate good personal conduct. Members will often be involved in sensitive situations requiring trust and the ability to respect confidentiality. They will also be expected to maintain the personal lifestyle of an upstanding, law abiding citizen.
